Transmedia Virtual Exhibition

Brief: Contribute to the planning, organising and marketing of the end of year 'Transmedia' exhibition.

Transmedia Branding:

For this project, I was part of the branding team, therefore played an important role in constructing the overall look of the exhibition. My main contributions for this project were helping come up with general branding decisions, redesigning the logo, designing the mascot, helping with the icons and constructing the branding guidelines document. As a group, we collectively decided on the colour scheme and typeography for the Transmedia brand. We included lots of blue shades as it has quite professional connotations, whilst also looking clean and modern. We also included the University of Winchesters primary purple colour, to help us maintain some connection with the University.

Logo Design:

The logo design process started by the branding team generating a few ideas, which we later voted on as a cohort.

Despite the majority voting for the text-based logo, we decided to go against this as we thought it was too simple and didnt really represent the DMD cohort or the event. We wanted something more fun that would stand out more. I decided to use the ideas from the TM design and combine it with the font from the text-based logo, to create the final logo, also using our colour scheme. The idea for the final logo comes from a previous transmedia logo, from the 2019 event. We did this as we liked the design from 2019 and thought it would be good to reuse it, whilst adding a spin on it, to represent how the 2021 event will be significantly different (as it will be completely virtual).

DMD Mascot:

As part of the branding, I decided to design a mascot, which would represent Transmedia as well as the DMD faculty as a whole. I decided to design a robot as I thought it would be quite a fun character, which would also reflect the technological aspects of DMD. I experimented with different colours as well as whether to use a matte or shiny overall look. I presented different options to my peers who then voted on the blue accented robot with the shiny finish. I also created some icons featuring the robot, which can be viewed in the branding guidelines.
